oh, cute!

Hi!

Just popping in to say, look how cute this is:

Colette Patterns' new Anise jacket

Also, look at all of this wool I've had sitting in my stash after I was lucky enough to find it all at a yard sale way back in March!

But wait, there's more! Just in case I wasn't feeling 100% confident in my skills/experience for making a jacket like this requiring tailoring... and stuff, there's a special ebook sewing companion for this jacket that breaks down (with lots of photos!) how to properly perform all of the necessary techniques on the pattern.

the Anise Companion

How exciting! Now, I just need to convince myself I'll actually sew this jacket and not wimp out on it so that I can BUY it. We'll see...

  2. I am totally in love with this jacket and have ordered the pattern and the companion booklet. I rationalized that with the booklet I may be able to do it. I have the Colette "Violet" pattern and the instructions are very well written.
    Go for it!

  3. Isn't it such a brilliant idea to have a companion book? I think this little coat is so adorable. I'm not ready to take on the challenge of a coat but when I do.. this could be the perfect place to start!
Colette is the darling of the independent pattern world!

  4. It's very cute, and I think this type of collar might be quite easy (well, by comparisment easy). It doesn't really need handtailored pad-stitching. Also, the princess seams makes the jacket easy to fit. With the companion it might be a very good first jacket (if I'm reading you right that it would be your first jacket-sewing).
I'd say go for it! =)

  5. This jacket is to die for! You totally have the skillz to make this :-)
And I cast my vote for the nubbly-looking fabric (bottom picture) - can't wait to see the result!

  6. Go for it! What a cute jacket & the step-by-step could be one of the best investments you'll make. Back in the day (pre-computers/almost the stone age) I took a tailoring 1 day class with step-by-step instructions, and it really improved my results. Plus for welt pockets & bound buttonholes, having good visuals for reference is so helpful. But I'd start with a solid/tweed wool, not a plaid for this many pieces going together. Plus those plaids would make great pleated or bias skirts!

  7. Go for it, not only will you have the companion, there is also going to be a sew-a-long, so you will be spoon fed. Go on, I know you really want to lol.
